They are also popular with law enforcement and sporting activities. Their origin is the United Kingdom and Canada. At maturity, males weigh 36 kilograms and females 32 kilograms. They can grow as tall as 56 centimetres and live for 12 to 13 years.

This is a compactly built sporting dog. It is found in arts and literature works spanning over 500 years. The dog lives between 11 and 12 years. It is said to be compassionate, athletic and intelligent, thus making it a very popular family pet.

With a lifespan of 12 to 14 years, this breed is known to be excitable and affectionate, after several breeding programs, it has shown some traits as a working dog. Traditionally, it was used for hunting roles.

As its name suggests, the dog originates from Germany. It is a working dog that weighs about 40 kilograms at maturity. It lives for 9 to 13 years. The dog is primarily bred for its intelligence, having been ranked third after Poodles and Border Collies in the book “The Intelligence of Dogs” by Stanley Coren. They are popular as guard dogs as well as search and rescue dogs.

This dog comes from the pit bull line. It is short and medium sized. Its origin is England. It weighs about 17 kilograms at maturity. It is an all-purpose dog and has been known to be fearless and loyal. Their love for people make them ill-equipped for training as attack dogs, however, they make brilliant companions.

This is a small descendant of the Spaniel dogs. It is often referred to as a ‘toy dog’. The dog originated from England. It is said to be playful and gentle and hence make wonderful pets for children. At maturity, they weigh 8.2 kilograms and live for up to 14 years.

This a large dog that was primarily bred to retrieve shot ducks during hunting season. It is easy to train and have a natural love for water. The dog weigh 34 kilograms and live for 12 years. The retrievers are patient with kids and thus make awesome family pets.

Also known as Westy, this dog has its origins in Scotland. It is small (9.1 kgs) and lives for 16 years. It is not tolerant of children pulling on its ears. It is self-assured and independent and thus make a great watch dog. Although its temperament vary, it is not an ideal pet for kids.
This is a medium-sized dogs whose origin is Germany. Its most significant feature is the square mandible. It was bred from the larger Mollaser Group. At maturity, it weighs 32 kilograms and can grow as tall as 64 centimetres. It is playful and energetic. It loves children and thus can be a great protector. It lives for 15 years.

Its origin is the UK. Initially, it was bred as a vermin hunter but later grew to be great pet. It can be strong-willed and stubborn. The dog is intelligent. It can easily be trained on task oriented activities such as jumps. The dog weighs 7 kilograms and grow as tall as 41 centimetres.
